Drey Mingo

School: Purdue
Position: SG, SF, PG, C
Height/Weight: 6'2 - 185 lbs

Unequivocally, the most versatile player in our system with arguably the greatest upside of any player in the country. Why? This late bloomer, who started playing basketball in 7th Grade, is operating off of in our estimation about 60% of her maximum potential and STILL dominating players with more experience. What makes her so very special and what created a virtual recruiting frenzy is the fact that she has the physical gifts, work ethic and dedication to fill out the other 40%. An exceptional leaper, this ever improving do-it-all, except cook, player has led two different schools to 3 Final Four appearances (in a row) in the Georgia High School State tournament first with Westminster as a sophomore and then the past 2 seasons with Marist High. Drey, as well as fellow super B'Ball 101 trainee Andrea McGuirt, led Marist High to its best record ever and first ever #1 ranking in the state. Drey averaged 19ppg in each of her last two seasons in high school. Was selected First Team All-State along side another B'Ball 101 Rising Star, Nikitta Gartrell as a junior. Was named McDonald's All-American, Parade All-American, WBCA All-American, Slam Magazine All-American, and First team All-State following her senior campaign. Signed with the 2006 NCAA National Champion Maryland Terrapins and Coach Brenda Frese. Finished her high school career ranked #16 in the country and #6 at her position. After 2 productive years at Maryland, Drey has decided to to try the Big 10 on for size after transfering to Purdue University. We are expecting big things in 2010-11 season after sitting out the 2009-10 season under the NCAA transfer guidelines.
