Earl Calloway, already a local legend in Atlanta after leading Westlake High School to state championship his senior year, is making a name for himself on the national scene. A true point guard in every sense of the word, Earl recently capped a solid NBA ROCKY MOUNTAIN REVUE Summer League with a 19 point 2 assist, 1 steal performance against argubly the best player this summer, the Philadelphia 76's Louis Williams. Earl made NBA scouts take notice due to his speed, quickness and his unbelievable performances in the 2006 NCAA tournament against San Diego State and Gonzaga, a team that featured the NCAA Co-Player of the Year Adam Morrison. Earl's near triple double (see B'Ball 101 spotlight) helped Indiana nearly pull a stunning upset of Gonzaga before falling 90-80. Played a major role in the success of Mike Davis' team that year. His brilliance with the ball and his ability to get his players going reminds you of another true point guard who is having alot of success-Steve Nash. Earl could easily play himself into a 1st round pick if he continues to work on small parts of his game. Great young man and another excellent student. |
