B'Ball 101 is pleased to announce our newest expert trainer and executive administrator, former WNBA player Tamara Stocks. Tamara brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience from all levels of basketball and is set to immediately impact the company's overall operation. Professional Experiance After an exceptional collegiate career at the University of Florida, Tamara was selected as the 25th player overall in the 2001 WNBA draft. Tamara spent the 2001 WNBA season with the Washington Mystics, and subsequently had stints with the Charlotte Sting and Los Angeles Sparks getting a chance to play for the great Micheal Cooper. She continued to compete at the highest level internationally for the following six years playing in countries such as Spain, France, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, China, Iceland and Russia. College A member of the University of Florida women's basketball team, Tamara entered UF as the most decorated high school player ever to wear a Gator uniform. As a freshman, she immediately made an impact on the Lady Gator Basketball team and set a UF record for starts by a freshman, starting every game and becoming only the fourth player in program history to do so. Throughout her college career, Tamara garnered numerous University and SEC accolades including a top ten ranking for field goal percentage in the SEC and SEC Academic Honor Roll, after posting a 3.36 GPA in Public Relations. Tamara finished her collegiate career scoring over 1,200 points, ranking 14th all-time in scoring at UF, 10th for field goal percentage, ninth for free throws and sixth for blocked shots. High School Hailing from the talent-rich Pickerington High School (Pickerington, OH) Tamara joined a team with an already winning tradition and started on the varsity team her freshman year. As a freshman, Tamara was selected by USA Today as one of the Top Ten Freshman in the nation. A four year starter for Pickerington High School, she led her team to the state finals her freshman year (ranked No. 4 in USA Today final poll) and the semifinals her sophomore and senior season, where the squad finished the year ranked No. 2 and No. 7, respectively. Pickerington ranked No. 1 in a USA Today poll in 1994 after downing then top-ranked Oregon City in the Lady Tiger Holiday Classic, as Tamara garnered All-Tournament honors. Tamara concluded her stellar high shool career rated No. 27 in the Blue Star Index for high school seniors. Her numerous accolades include being named 1997 State of Ohio Player of the Year, 1997 Pickerington Holiday Classic Tournament MVP, AAU All-American, Kodak All-American, Parade All-American, NIKE/ WBCA High School All-American (the first ever to sign with the University of Florida). Tamara graduated PHS with 1,284 points while shooting 66.0 percent from the field. She still holds the school record for most points in a game by a junior with 40 points.
